What is CCNA or Cisco Certified Network Associate?

What is CCNA?

It’s a way to validate the skills and knowledge of a given I.T individual supporting their products.

What you see on the illustration above was the  previous Cisco certficiation tracks. There were several levels and area of specializations. Ang CCNA ang pinaka-associate level at pinaka-foundation.

In the previous hierarchy, we have different levels and specilizations. For example, sa CCNA level meron tayong CCNA R&S, CCNA Security, CCNA Data Center at iba pa. Ganun din sa CCNP. Meron tayong CCNP R&S, CCNP Security, CCNP Data Center at iba pa.

Pero ito ay nabago na. This year(2020), Cisco introduces a brand new certification tracks for their certitication programs. Let’s talk about the new CCNA.

The New CCNA

The exam number would be CCNA 200-301. This update is/was impletemented last February 24, 2020.

Kelangan mong magtake ulit ng same certification to renew your current certification or take an upper level of certification para ma-renew and then ma-certify to the higher level.

For example, bago ma-expire ang iyong CCNA certification, you have the option to take CCNA certification again or take the CCNP certification. Kung maipapasa mo ang CCNP, automatic renewed ang CCNA mo and then you have that new CCNP certification na naipasa mo.

CCNP certification also had its changes. The new CCNP has only 2 set of exams. The core exam and concentration exam. Here’s the simple illustration para mas maintindihan mo.

How to become CCNA

Dati meron kang 2 options to become CCNA(commonly Routing and Switching):

  1. To passed icnd1(100-105 and icnd2(200-105)  or
  2. To passed ccna composite (200-125)

That is to passed the new CCNA 200-301.

To make it more clear, here is a simple illustration.

Ngayon alam mo na kung anong exam number, it doesn’t end with that. Basically, the ideal whole process is:

  • You study/train – you can do self-study or enroll to courses or trainings available
  • You create an account in PearsonVue – kelangan mong mag-regsiter at mag-create ng account sa PearsonVue para makapag-register at makapag-schedule ng exam
  • You schedule your exam and choose an exam center(via PearsonVue) – ikaw ang pipili ng date at exam center(Cisco accredited exam center) for your exam
  • You pay for the exam(online via PearsonVue) – you pay via credit card/debit card online
  • And then you go and take the exam on your chosen date and exam center – you take your exam on that day and will get your results immediately

In summary, it looks like this:

That’s basically the exact process on how you can start your journey in becoming CCNA.

Ang study/learning phase mo ang optional. You have all the options kung papaano mo aaralin at matututunan ang mga topics at technologies na related sa CCNA. And that’s where this blog can help you.

The goal of this blog is to help you understand the basics and fundamentals of networking and  other CCNA technologies. By the end of this blog, you’ll get a deeper understanding of the ‘concepts’ of networking and ready to pass the exam.

Are you ready?

Let’s begin.

Unfortunately, I do not know any training centers in Cebu. :/ Goodluck to your career. Let me know if you need anything. Thanks!

Hi Jeffrey, right now I don’t have a training center. Maybe in the future makakapagtayo ako ng training center. Hehe

Pwede mo nman kunin both pero it will become useless kasi same certification lang din ang kakalabasan. Thanks!

Thanks

      Hi Kierre,

Thanks for visiting the blog. Mas malawak at mas maraming sample and scenario. Mas focus at mas mabilis.

Hope it helps. Thank you.
